Modern Commentary
This storyline is Ms Constance Taylor's first appearance. Previously, all that was known about her parents was that they were divorced and she lived with her dad afterwards. Her father had a variety of unsuccessful business investments.
Anyhow, per a later comic, Mr. Taylor joined the company just out of college. So Ms Taylor is technically correct. And, y'know, we fill in details as we go along. A lot of our writing process is just understanding the characters more thoroughly. When things go right, it feels like we're uncovering things that had always been there, rather than making up new things. - Terrence
