Isabel added the "but how much do we really know about each other" line in the second panel at the last minute, because Brisbane's answer is a non sequitur without it. Instead, it's an evasion which is very characteristic of him. He's got this real naive charm to him; I really like the way this comic came out - Terrence

Modern Commentary
I wish that we had made it a bit more clear why they're both so hesitant. Right now, their lives are in a delicate balance. If something were to go wrong in their relationship and upset that balance, it might cost them their jobs, their home, and/or their best friend.
