I wanted this comic to show Robert's fear of giving answers as well as his sleepiness. I hope both things show and the two things didn't cancel each other out.

Marla there was always Charles' half-sister. Isabel just didn't want to announce it before she was ready to tell the story. She hadn't even told me. A few days after this ran, she asked me if I thought the waitress looked familiar and who I thought she was.

I probably asked if she was anything to do with Jun and Tori, who are the NamirDeiter.net librarians (and Final Battle Adventure Online game masters) - Terrence

Original Commentary
This happened to me. A day after Isabel wrote the strips, actually. It was also at 2 AM at an all-night diner. The difference is that we went to Dennys instead of a cool local place - Terrence

Even back then, the yellow sweetener packets were almost certainly Splenda. Why? Because if left it white, like real sugar packets, it would look like we forgot to color it - Terrence

Original Commentary
This script got rewritten a bit. In the original, he was talking about human/fish relationships in Jabberjaw. Isabel wanted it spelled "YabberYaw" so it would be less infringe-y. I thought that reaction would be split between "What's yabberyaw?" and "You know, you spelled JabberJaw wrong in the comic today". Eventually, we compromised and I wrote a bit of FBAO for him to go on about. The original line was a lot longer and he was complaining about how he sold off his Golden Shield a day before the prices tripled - Terrence

Robert always gets more animated when you talk to him about computers or video games. He's a better talker than a listener and not doing a great job of explaining why any of this matters... - Terrence

Robert is trying. His girlfriend is looking at the prizes so he wants to win her one.

He's not great company right now. He's not good conversation either. But he does have five bucks and sometimes that's a quality all its own - Terrence
