Brisbane's line in the middle panel is pretty much what motivated him throughout all this- the one thing he needed to realize before he could move on with his relationship with Kimberly.

Originally I had planned on having this issue be talked about in a story arc featuring Brisbane and his sister Sofia, where, with her help, Brisbane realizes that women used her and he was- well, I don't want to give things away too much. But then I thought, "No, Brisbane needs to have this discussion with Kimberly - and he needs to be able to realize this so he can be mature enough to really be with her"... and, well, there you go. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
As much as Kimberly might want to close the deal, the best deal is one that leaves both parties happy.

And Brisbane needs to get through this, and he needs someone he can get through this with. - Terrence
