Was Brent overweight? Yes, he was, for whatever it is that he is - Terrence

That sign says "ALL EMPLOYEES MUST WASH THEIR HANDS. WE'RE SERIOUS".

That gives you an idea what the other employees are like here. - Terrence

Original Commentary

Brent was overweight because Brisbane tried to buy Brent's love with food. Fortunately for the both of them, Brents can handle over eating far more than goldfishes (perhaps that explains why all of Brisbane's fishes never made it). But, this was commentary that went better with yesterday's comic...

This comic is another testament to the dysfunctional relationship Brisbane and Sofia has (which is more like a the relationship of a Lady and serf rather than sister and brother). -Isabel

Sofia is slowly turning into a crazy... Brent lady, right in front of Jane's eyes. And there is nothing for her to do except make snide remarks to her. I don't know which one I feel more sorry for. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
Sofia does get carried away on her flights of fancy sometimes, doesn't she?

Well, you have to have something to look forward to - Terrence

Original Commentary

This was the original way Dr. Paul's line in panel three was to play out: "(reading a chart, blushing a little) P- (thinking) I walked right into that one... She's so cute when she takes a joke set up... Hmm... but she was almost too deadpan... maybe she was serious."

I'm not entirely sure why I made the changes to this comic at the last minute... I added in the "I walked right into that one..." last minute and had removed any inkling of Dr. Paul thinking Sofia was cute. But, at the super last minute (I re saved the final jpg) I went back in and added it. I hope the final version reads smoother.

The animal shelter image is based on a vet's sign we see a lot when in Monrovia, it has animals lined up from a horse to a mouse on it by height. But, since we have only seen these three critters, that's all there is.-Isabel

Modern Commentary
Those three animals on the sign are brant, turtle, and goldfish. - Terrence

Original Commentary

These two are so adorable, and yet so sad... although they almost look like father and daughter in panel three- which I'm sure is probably part of the problem for Dr. Paul and his feelings for her.

I recall hearing about there being volunteers needed to pet kittens so they will take kindly to humans later in life... I always thought that was painfully cute, and a great way to get volunteer work done.

Modern Commentary
Nowadays, I'm sure your animal shelter volunteers also spend time photographing the animals and maybe writing up a bit about them for the social media.

I mean, the shelters around here just list the gender and color and maybe a name. But you hear about folks who write up a bit about how amazing it would be to adopt this particular dog or cat - Terrence

Original Commentary

Just how much these little critters can pick up on the emotions of those around them is a mystery... but this one seems almost too calm for her to be made worried from all this... of course, maybe she just doesn't care about the drama going on around her... -Isabel

Modern Commentary
Brenna doesn't care about this. She ships Sofia with Patrick (who she has not met yet) - Terrence

Original Commentary

I've been finding it difficult to skirt around the whole "what is the name that Brent's are called" issue. Actually, as of writing this, the name of the full grown species has been agreed on, only no name has been chosen for the little ones... of course. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
Sofia's line in the third panel was changed from "They've had my info on file for a while now".

But kittens go quick. There have been a lot of times we tried to get kittens but the kittens all got adopted out before we got there.

We're glad they went to good homes. A little sad they weren't ours, but that's how it goes - Terrence
