Original Commentary

And now a recap as to the troubles and hang-ups of Robert. While I was writing this arc, I showed Terrence my rough, which only included up till last Saturday. He was very curious as to where the rest of this conversation is going and how it would end. I was worried he'd be disappointed by the fact that we had actually already hit the end of the conversation and were now in a different place. But he says this comic explains exactly what's going on "He's a little, tailless wolf with a lot of issues", to paraphrase the way he put it. I'm sure Sofia would have put it that way as well, but she likes Jane... and she likes not getting pummeled by Jane even more. -Isabel

So where are they? At first, the idea would be that they were at a diner somewhere... then I thought "It should be outdoors". But when I sat down and threw it, I realized it was neither. They were hanging out on a very nice apartment balcony. This caused some small problems... in this comic, Sofia originally paid for the salad and soda. This goes a long way of showing what kind of respect she has for her friends vs. her family. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
Ok, brunch spot. If this was Sandra's patio, Sofia would've had a mimosa. - Terrence

Original Commentary

Like I mentioned in the previous commentary, the location of where these comics takes place is changed from a restaurant to the balcony of one of the girls (which one? Well, I'm not sure just yet, but I'm aiming more for Sandra since a fancy balcony is more her thing that Jane's... she seems like a "less fuss" sort of person). This script also had to be changed, as it was to take place when the girls were leaving said restaurant (with Sandra saying she had to go in the first panel, instead of what she says). The rest of the comic got to stay the same. And yeah, Jake is sort of douche like that... -Isabel

Modern Commentary
I mean, if Sandra was able to get the printer working back at Lemon Technology, maybe she's handy with these things? Better than Jane is, at least. - Terrence

Back when I was trying to write this, I asked Terrence for a common email problem... he instead started mention commonly used email programs. A miscommunication... I think we were starting to get sick even back then. I then opened up my email program and started to poke around in it, seeing what could be changed to mess things up... I must have gotten it right because Terrence didn't mention anything wrong with it to me... but honestly, my days of knowing computers is long gone... -Isabel

Modern Commentary
This has happened to us a few times, since we get most of our email through addresses at our comic domains. Back in the day, you might get an email address through your Internet Service Provider rather than everybody using GMail or Yahoo. - Terrence

Original Commentary

Once again, I'm always at odds with Jake... is it wrong to lie to try and talk with someone who's being unreasonable? If the lie is done in the line of virtue, does that change the fact that you are indeed lying? I don't know the answer to that question... but I do wonder if he's only doing this to start a fight with Sandra... -Isabel

Modern Commentary
Basically, there are two types of IT problems. Simple and complex. Or "These two systems are interacting in an undocumented and poorly understood way and hopefully we can make sense of this" vs "So you need to click the box that says 'Click this box to proceed'".

Sometimes people with simple problems feel embarassed about bothering us, but as an IT guy, I'd rather click the button and solve everything quickly and easily. - Terrence

Original Commentary

It had been my intention to make some new items for Jane's (and Jake's... although I doubt he's paying rent) living room from the start of it's showing (has Jane's place been shown before? Bah, if so she redecorated... nothing brings up a gal's spirits more than redecorating... or so I've heard- our own place is a designer's nightmare, so what would I know?), but we've both had sore throats for the last three days... we're getting better, but I just ended up not having much energy for the past few days, so in the end, the last two comics ended up having very plain backgrounds. Last night I was up till six am drawing today's comics- and even then I barely got them up at time...but at least I used the extra time I had today to make new backgrounds for this comic. The cabinet is new- the only thing borrowed are it's contents (the photo is one of Robert, Jane and Jake when they were kids... I have a feeling that photo has been up for years, even before Jane and Robert got together). The flowers are from Twix's flower shop (the ultimate recycling back ground file), the books on the bottom shelf are from Ya Ta comics and the collector's plate is new. There is also a brand new drawer to go with the cabinet, but it doesn't get much showing. The calendar is somewhat new... the image in it came from a really old ND comic. I'm glad I finally got to make them... just in time for them not to show up again for a bit. >< -Isabel

Modern Commentary
Jake and Jane are pretty much always like this. That's the thing about Jake is that he'd rather be right than be happy. He's got one point here and he's never going to give up on it.

Sandra is, unfortunately, too nice to yell back at him - Terrence

...and by "in a bit" (in regards to seeing Jane's place again), I mean today. Opps. Of course, those of you playing at home probably have an idea about what Sandra is thinking here... although I'm not quite sure Jane has added it up (she probably figures Jake triggered a memory of someone better looking not Jake. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
Yeah, Jake would probably have an AI girlfriend these days. I'm not sure what the state of virtual girls was like back in 2009. ELIZA has been around for ages, but you didn't have anything approaching a convincing chatbot back then. - Terrence
