And now the fun can begin! As of last night, Unlike Minerva is now ten years old... even though it ended back in 2004, I think... it's still living on in one form or another. Terrence didn't mention what kind of smile Patrick had on his face, but he told me I pretty much got it spot on... which is actually a little scary. -Isabel

Just a little. I mean, I've shown a variety of characters waking up next to each other in different circumstances, but I think that spider-to-the-fly smile is the most adult thing to show up in the comic - Terrence

Modern Commentary
Note that Patrick is playing Minesweeper in the third panel. The options for mobile games were limited in 2009; he doesn't strike me as an Angry Birds kinda guy.

Also, I love that middle panel. That is SO Patrick. He's a rival to Brisbane - not for Kimberly, but for corporate status. But if Kimberly were to suddenly become dissatisfied with Brisbane, he may try something. - Terrence

L: Hi, Kimberly - didn't expect to see you home so soon.
K: It's a long story. Did the mail come?
L: A few minutes ago. Why?

L: Kimberly?

It was good... it set up the plot and all... but it felt a little empty. I was considering having Kimberly mutter something to the driver about his mother also using a meter- but, you know, Kimberly isn't that kind of gal. Or rather, she wouldn't be to anyone's face... unless she was at a meting, then all gloves are off. Not to mention that she is depending on this person being there when she gets back from the apartment, so it's best to just be nice. -Isabel

I get a bit too caught up in showing every moment. We just had Kimberly say she was leaving the office to go to the apartment. Did we need to show her arriving at the apartment? I'm sure the readers could've figured it out... - Terrence

Not a new background, sort of. The apartment's mail center was made just for each panel, although it would have been smart to have just made one background, if only for the third panel, since the other panels would have needed custom made backgrounds as it was. Ah well, live and learn, right?
